Shenandoah University’s Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business and its community partners will host a symposium, “Creating a Competitive Advantage in the New Economy,” from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Thursday, March 10, at Halpin-Harrison Hall on the university’s main campus.
The symposium is designed to offer inspiration and education for attendees of all ages and professions through networking opportunities, dynamic speakers, informative breakout sessions, exciting sponsors and exhibitions. It is intended to provide participants with practical, hands-on, affordable solutions they can take back to their organizations and apply to their business needs.
Keynote sessions will be offered by Mark Moseley, director of franchise development for Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries and former player for the Washington Redskins; and Andrew Ansoorian, director of human resources for Shenandoah County Public Schools.
Before his time with Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries, Moseley gained significant experience in commercial real estate and used his marketing skills to launch his own business enterprises. He developed and sold Mark Moseley’s Travel as well as Mark Moseley’s Famous Fries. He played in the National Football League from 1970 - 1987, playing with the Washington Redskins from 1974-1986. Moseley finished his career with the Redskins with 1,207 points and remains the Redskins’ all-time scoring leader.
Ansoorian has been a human resources practitioner for more than 14 years. He has served in management-level positions with the Los Angeles Unified School District, Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, Covina-Valley Unified School District and most recently with Shenandoah County Public Schools. He is a certified human capital strategist and was voted as the 2004 manager of the year by the Association of California School Administrators, Southern Region. His professional interests include human capital management strategies, information technology, leadership development, employee engagement, and he is a frequent presenter at conferences and business organizations.

Through Feb. 18, early bird registration is available for $35 per person or $30 each with a group rate for three or more participants from the same organization. After the early bird deadline, registration will be $50 per person or $40 with the group rate.
