Five students from Shenandoah University will participate in the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC) 12th annual statewide collegiate Wachovia Ethics Bowl on Feb. 13 and 14, on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. The Shenandoah University team will compete head-to-head against other highly qualified student teams from Virginia independent colleges and universities, debating a variety of case studies highlighting privacy-based dilemmas. The Shenandoah student team members are: Olof Eriksson, sophomore; Jason Guy, junior; Matthew Knonenborg, sophomore; Matthew Martz, sophomore; and Meagan McIntyre, sophomore.
Many notables from the business sector, law, education, finance, journalism and other fields will listen to team presentations and offer reactions to the students’ presentations.
The Ethics Bowl program will commence with an opening session on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2:45 p.m. at Virginia Wesleyan College’s Jane. P. Batten Student Center, Pearce Hospitality Suite, with the first matches scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
On Monday, Feb. 14, rounds three and four will begin at 8:30 a.m. The final round of competition will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the Monumental Chapel. The public is invited to attend the match sessions free of charge. The winning team will be announced at 12:45 p.m. on Monday. The team from Randolph-Macon College took home the trophy at the 2010 Ethics Bowl.
