Giving to Shenandoah

Welcome to the Office of Advancement

Mitch Moore

Thank you for visiting the Office of Advancement online. The Office of Advancement is composed of three primary departments: Advancement, the fundraising arm of the university; Alumni Affairs, the campus partnership for the engagement and involvement of our alumni; and Marketing and Communications, the university's message, promotion and brand advocates.

I am impressed daily with the commitment of the faculty and staff, the strength of our student body and the warmth and generosity of our alumni and friends. One of the early opportunities I had to witness the incredible support of our alumni and friends was the successful completion of SU's first major campaign - The Spirit of Shenandoah - which began in 2003 and ended June 30, 2009. The Spirit of Shenandoah campaign raised more than $65 million in critical support for SU and resulted in several new campus facilities that forever positively changed the footprint of our university community.

The Office of Advancement at SU provides a very meaningful difference in the lives of students, faculty, alumni and friends - whether it's managing scholarships or capital projects, planning events to keep our alumni connected, or marketing and communicating to foster an open dialogue with all constituents. Our goal is to advance the institution in ways that promote the greatest and most immediate opportunities to deliver the best education possible. We work with you, and others like you, to help transform lives.

To this end, we are proud to have launched our online community for alumni - ConnectSU. I encourage all alumni to explore this new social media vehicle and experience for yourself the ease of use and relationship-building value at connect.su.edu.

We have exciting news on the horizon as the University, under the leadership of our Marketing and Communications department, is in the midst of a comprehensive assessment of our communication and branding efforts - stay tuned for an update in the coming months.

The Advancement team stands ready to be of assistance to you and to answer any questions you may have. If we may be of service to you, call our office at (540) 665-4512 or e-mail us at develop@su.edu.

Sincerely,

Mitchell L. Moore
