The The Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy is housed in the Health Professions Building located on the Winchester Medical Center campus.
Pfizer Inc. invited each of the Virginia schools of pharmacy Clinical Skills Competition team winners to participate in its third annual Virginia Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists Jennifer E. Stallings College Bowl competition. As always, the case was a real patient case involving a drug toxicity issue and an inappropriate drug selection that might be encountered in clinical practice today. Each team evaluated the case patient’s current therapy, identified and prioritized therapeutic problems and treatment goals then created a care plan and presented it for review before a four-judge panel.
“Student participants from all schools did a great job assessing the patient, writing up a care plan and presented well,” said Gayle Slifka, medical outcomes specialist for Pfizer Inc. “But, the winning team of Andrew Ventura and Joseph Kalis represented Shenandoah University’s Bernard J Dunn School of Pharmacy with honor, talent, pride and confidence.”
Ventura and Kalis each won $500, and Lexi-Comp donated a Drug Information Handbook to all student participants.
