In a list of 20 good schools in the United States to study athletic training, Shenandoah University was one of just two universities specifically cited for excellent programs. Education-Portal.com writes, “Athletic trainers work with athletes to prevent sports injuries and rehabilitate when necessary. Accredited athletic training degrees are commonly offered through U.S. colleges as a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training or a Master of Science in Athletic Training. Two top athletic training colleges in the U.S. include University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and Shenandoah University in Virginia.
“[Shenandoah University], a CAATE-accredited athletic training school, was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the South's 31st-best master's-degree granting university for 2010. Because the athletic training program is selective, the college offers an undergraduate pre-admissions track that guarantees entrance to the program, provided grade minimums are met. Degrees available include an entry-level Master of Science in Athletic Training and a dual M.S. in Athletic Training/Doctor of Physical Therapy. The school has 20 different sports available, and student athletic trainers are assigned to one of the college's teams to learn hands-on skills.”
