Shenandoah University Libraries
ERIC Document Collection

The full text of most materials in the ERIC database with an ED followed by six digits can be found in the library's ERIC Document collection. The collection takes two forms. The library has subscribed to ERIC documents on microfiche since 1991. Our collection numbers about 115,000 items. The collection is located on the main floor of the Smith Library. In addition, ERIC documents published since 1993 are available online for free at ERIC.

For any older ERIC documents that the library does not already own, it is possible to order copies directly through interlibrary loan. Following use by the student or faculty member, these ERIC documents become the property of the library.

Individual ERIC documents are not listed in the library catalog. It is necessary to use the ERIC database to identify specific titles for research. The ERIC database is the world's largest source of education information, containing nearly 1 million abstracts of documents and journal articles on education research and practice.

Three versions of the ERIC database, including the free government website, can be found on the library databases page.
