The owner and CEO of OakCrest Companies, Jim Vickers has been a leading residential builder and real estate investor in the Winchester, Va. area for the last 36 years. During that time, OakCrest Companies have received numerous awards including: 2000 Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year; Our Health Annual Award of Excellence and Community Leadership in 2006; 2007 and 2010 Lucille Lozier Award by the Preservation of Historic Winchester; Excellence in Economic Redevelopment Award for outstanding major downtown revitalization project on The Knitting Mill (presently the OakCrest Companies offices); 2008 Building Development and Improvements Award of Excellence by the Virginia Downtown Development Association; the Better Models of Development Award by the Valley Conservation Council for The Knitting Mill; 2010 Award of Merit in the category of Business Development and Improvements for The Lovett Building located in downtown Winchester.
In March 2007, Jim was awarded the John Hawse Award by the Winchester-Frederick County Community Services Council for his generosity in donating rent-free space for CCAP. In December 2009, Jim was awarded the Blue Ridge Association of Realtors Community Service Award. In the Spring 2010 issue of the Shenandoah Living magazine, Jim was named one of the 25 most influential people in the Valley.
Jim studied business and economics at Richard Bland College, and has earned a Contractors Class A Business License and a Virginia Real Estate License.
Born in Shelby, N.C., Jim now resides in Frederick County with his wife Jane. They have two children: Jason, who lives in New York and Kathryn, a graduate of Ohio State University who is currently studying in Belgium.
