The Paper Review

All applicant records deemed complete and with an overall prerequisite GPA of at least 2.8 for Traditional applicant, 3.2 for articulation agreement applicants and 3.4 for SU PT pre-admission applicants are distributed to PT Program faculty for detailed evaluation. Individuals failing to meet the pre-determined GPA requirements are sent a letter of rejection. The form utilized for this review documents the reader's assessment of the letters of recommendation, the qualitative and quantitative assessment of prior clinical experience, and the candidate's academic rating. Each file is independently reviewed and scored by two faculty members. If there is more than ten point difference in the scores, the file will be sent to a third reviewer and scores averaged.

After both reviews are documented, the file is returned to the SUPT admissions coordinator who enters the review scores into the admissions database. These scores are combined with the prior data (Prerequisite GPA, Science GPA, and GRE scores) to produce a Pre-interview Score. Applicants in the traditional and articulation agreement programs who score above a level, predetermined by the Admissions Committee, are automatically scheduled for an interview. Those below the initial cut score are placed in a "Hold" status for possible interview, or may be rejected from further consideration for falling below the rejection cut or if it is determined that the candidate will be unable to fulfill the prerequisites. All SU PT Pre-admissions candidates are offered an interview.
