Business Programs for Transfer Students

The Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business offers students the opportunity to transfer into Shenandoah University to complete their degree in Business Administration. Transfer students interested in the school of business have two track options: Traditional Transfer Program or Business Degree Completion Program (DCP). No matter what the track, the school of business is more than able to accommodate the needs of its transfer students.

Business: Traditional Transfer Program

Candidates for this program will have graduated from high school and be enrolled at another college or university. The following items are required in order to be admitted to the Traditional Program:

  1. Official application, submitted via paper or online, along with $30 non-refundable, application fee (apply online at www.su.edu/admissions).
  2. Official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities attended with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Transfer Credit Evaluation

Upon receipt of all official transcripts, your application will be submitted to determine program eligibility and the amount of transfer credits. The Transfer Credit Evaluation will identify requirements met in the following categories – General Education, Major Courses and Free Electives. The official Transfer Credit Evaluation will be mailed approximately three weeks after acceptance.

Traditional Program Prerequisites

Prior to advancing into certain 300-level courses, students are required to have completed a select set of prerequisite courses. These courses will satisfy a minimum of 18 credits of General Education requirements and will be taken within the first year of enrollment at SU if an equivalent course has not been completed. The prerequisites are:

  • English I
  • Public Speaking
  • Macroeconomics
  • Microeconomics
  • Precalculus I
  • Business Statistics

Business: Degree Completion Program

Candidates for the program should demonstrate a commitment to education as a life-long process and they should be able to commit to the rigors of a 24-month program.

Degree Completion Program Highlights

  • Accelerated two-year format, totaling 22 weekends per academic year
  • Allows students to complete degree while maintaining full-time employment
  • Classes offered Friday evenings and throughout the day on Saturday
  • Ability to transition into Master of Business Administration program upon completion

The following items are required in order to be admitted to the DCP:

  1. Official application, submitted via paper or online, along with $30 non-refundable, application fee (apply online at www.su.edu/admissions).
  2. Official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities attended with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  3. Two letters of recommendation.
  4. Completion of all required courses.

Transfer Credit Evaluation

Degree Completion Program Requirements

To ensure full admission into the DCP, students should have a minimum of 63 credits completed prior to enrollment, which must include the following:

General Education Requirements – 30 credits minimum

iBBA Prerequisites: The following courses will satisfy a minimum of 18 credits of General Education requirements and must be completed prior to enrollment:

  • English I
  • Public Speaking
  • Macroeconomics
  • Microeconomics
  • Precalculus I
  • Business Statistics

Non-Business Electives – 24 credits minimum

  • Must include either Intro to Psychology or Intro to Sociology

Business Core – 9 credits minimum

The following courses are required:

  • Computer Applications in Business Analysis
  • Principles of Accounting I
  • Principles of Accounting II
