Religion Minor

A variety of options.

Class

Students qualify for a Minor in Religion by taking 18 hours in Religion or Philosophy, with at least 6 of those hours at the 300 or 400 level. Students may create their own minor, but the following represent interesting possibilities for a coherent minor program.

World Religions Concentration:
Religion 101: Intro to Religion
Religion 202: Religions of the World
Religion 310: Judaism
Religion 311: Asian Religion and Philosophy
Religion 312: Islam
Religion 340: Religion and Ecology

(Any course focused on the Christian tradition could be substituted for one of the above.)

Christian Studies Concentration:
Choose four of the following as your 100-200 level options:

Religion 112: Christian Discipleship
Religion 210: Hebrew Bible
Religion 211: New Testament
Religion 220: Survey of Western Christianity
Religion 225: Christian Social Ethics
Religion 251: Christian Spirituality

Choose two of the following as your 300-400 level options:
Religion 301: Christian Theology
Religion 330: History of Christianity in the United States
Religion 331: Christianity in the African-American Experience
Philosophy 331: Philosophy of Non-violence
Religion 340: Religion and Ecology.

Christian Leadership Concentration:
Choose the following for one of your 100-200 level options:

Religion 110: The Global Context of Christian Leadership

Choose from the following for your 300-400 level options:
Religion 320: Christian Education
Religion 321: Church Leadership
Religion 421: Practicum

Ethics Concentration:
