Shenandoah University offers 16
intercollegiate sports, eight for men and eight for women. SU plays in one of the toughest
Division III Conferences in the nation, the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The
Dixie is comprised of seven schools in Virginia and North Carolina and features an
automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in all sports. Shenandoah Athletics is undergoing a period of dynamic change. In addition to a
new intercollegiate football program in 2000 and women's field hockey in 2001, we're
currently upgrading our facilities with an athletic fieldhouse, which will open in August
2000 and a 3000-seat stadium for football, lacrosse and field hockey. Currently under
construction, the athletic fieldhouse will provide much needed space for our expanding
football, men's and women's lacrosse and women's field hockey programs with a 1700-square
foot training room and 2400-square foot weight room. The new stadium is scheduled to open
for the 2001 football season.
