another one of the Hornets
local players... one of the top pitchers in the
Dixie Conference... possesses one of the best
change-ups in the country... As a sophomore: became
the Hornets first pitcher to be named first team
All-Dixie and first team All-South as he
completely rewrote the Hornets single season
pitching record book... won 11 games... made 16
appearances and 14 starts... had 11 complete
games... struck out a career high 11 in a 4-0
shutout of Methodist College in the first round
of the Dixie Tournament on April 19... had a
personal six game winning streak from March 25
until April 22... As a freshman: stepped
in and was one of the Hornets top starters... was
3-4 with a 5.64 ERA... also had 42 strikeouts in
67.0 innings pitched...turned in an excellent
performance against 1999 Division III National
Champion North Carolina Wesleyan, tossing a
complete game and giving up only two earned runs
on seven hits... was the winning pitcher in a 12-11
win over Division I Georgetown on March 24th...
earned the respect of teammates with quiet
confidence and bulldog mentality on the mound,
which kept the team in every game he pitched.......
In High School: was the Most Valuable
Player at James Wood High School as a senior...
an All-Northwestern District pick on the mound as
well... was a Winchester Star All-Area pick as a
