STEVENSON,
Md.
– The Shenandoah University women’s basketball team
snapped its eight game losing streak Thursday evening with a 65-43
non-league victory at
Villa
Julie
College
.
Shenandoah
(3-11) had not won since defeating
Hood
College
59-42 on December 5; the eight losses suffered in the
interim was the longest losing streak in Head Coach Kathy Orsini’s
career.
Against
the Mustangs (2-14), SU wasted little time in seizing the advantage.
The Hornets took a 31-21 lead into the halftime lockerroom as their
smothering defense held VJC to just eight field goals in 27 attempts
(29.6 percent) while SU shot a much better 14 for 39 (35.9 percent).
The
second half was more of the same as the visitors pulled away behind 15
points from senior Wendy Legge (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) and 10
points from classmate Rosaline Fisher (Greenscastle, Pa./Hagerstown
CC).
All
10 SU players scored at least two points in the contest.
