Women's Basketball
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The SU women's
basketball team was unable to gain its first Dixie Conference victory of
the season Saturday afternoon as the Hornets dropped a 61-46 decision to
Methodist College.
Methodist (7-7, 4-2) seized
control early as the Lady Monarchs scored the first eight
points of the game while SU (3-12, 0-6) was held scoreless for nearly
the first five minutes of the contest. Despite the early offensive woes,
the Hornets found themselves down just six at 25-19 by halftime as they
continually picked away at the MC lead.
Unfortunately, Methodist
erased any thoughts of a Shenandoah upset as Christen Snyder hit three
three-point baskets in a span of 4:30 early in the second.
Senior Wendy Legge (Stephens
City, Va./Sherando) led the visitors with 16 points and eight rebounds
while freshman Jenny Gray (Sumerduck, Va./Liberty) added seven points.

Greensboro College.

half before MC (11-5, 6-0) went on a 23-12 run from the 15:46 to the
7:20 marks to take a 61-60 lead. The Monarchs would not trail again.
