WINCHESTER, Va. (January 30,
2001) - The Shenandoah University women's
basketball team got itself back on the winning
track Tuesday night, defeating Villa Julie
College 62-51 before 112 fans at Shingleton
Gymnasium.
SU (8-8) overcame a slow
start to take a 31-17 halftime lead and cruise to
their sixth straight victory over the Lady
Mustangs (3-17). After 13 minutes of basketball,
the score was tied at 10, but the Hornets reeled
off 21 points in the final seven minutes of the
half to take the 14-point halftime advantage.
Junior Wendy Legge (Stephens
City, Va./Sherando) had a game high 19, while
Carrie Weimer (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport)
turned in her fourth double-double of the season
with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Maura Fannin was the only
Villa Julie player in double figures. She had 15
points to go along with 10 boards.

The women are off until
Saturday, when they travel to Newport News, Va.
to take on Christopher Newport University in a
Dixie Conference contest.
