FORT MYERS
,
Fla.
– The
Shenandoah University baseball team fell for the fifth time in six
games Thursday morning as Olivet took a 2-0 Gene Cusic Tournament
victory.
The
two-run loss was supposed to be the lidlifter in a doubleheader with
the Comets; game two was rained out.
Shenandoah
(3-10) was held to just four hits on the day as Olivet shut SU out
for the second time in four games. Sophomore Dusty Crostic (Chesterfield,
Va./LC Bird) led the Hornets with two hits in four
at-bats while John Cowell (Devon,
Pa./Conestoga) and Shane Lloyd (Alexandria,
Va./Hayfield) had one each.
Shenandoah’s
offensive woes ruined a strong pitching performance by junior Seth
Foster (Alexandria,
Va./Hayfield). Foster scattered seven hits and struck out
six against just one walk in the complete game performance. He falls
to 1-2 on the season with the loss.
Shenandoah
placed runners in scoring position in the first, fourth and fifth
innings but saw Olivet escape trouble by turning double plays in the
first and fourth and getting a inning ending strikeout in the fifth.
