WINCHESTER, Va. – The SU women’s lacrosse team gained the first lacrosse shutout in school history Thursday night with an 11-0 victory over Trinity College .

Shenandoah (2-7) held the Tigers (0-6) without a shot in the win; the shutout is the first for either the SU women or men in a combined 17 seasons of intercollegiate lacrosse. It is also the largest margin of victory for the women since defeating Hood College 21-2 on April 4, 1998 .

Center Megan Tupper (Bowie, Md./Anne Arundel CC) wasted little time in getting things started for her squad on senior night at Shentel Stadium. Tupper scored an unassisted tally just 30 seconds into the game and then added another a minute later to begin the rout.

SU added another three goals in the first 10 minutes of play and then began to expand its offensive opportunities. Eight different players scored goals, including the first career tallies for Joyce Cespedes (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood), Joanna Eure (Pillow, Pa./Upper Dauphin) and Bridget Robbins (Baker, W. Va./East Hardy).

Robbins, the Hornets regular goalkeeper, saw her first field action in the second half and scored on a free position shot. Christine LaTouche (Elkton, Va./Spotswood) played the final 30 minutes in the goal.

Tupper led her squad with two goals and three assists while LaTouche had three goals before replacing Robbins in the cage.
