WINCHESTER, Va. (September 5, 2001)
- Western Maryland College scored three goals in
the first six minutes of the game Wednesday
afternoon to seize the early lead and cruise to
an 8-0 victory over homestanding Shenandoah
University.
WMC (1-2) got the only goal it would
need 2:47 into the contest when Laura Cavey
dribbled in alone on SU keeper Dana DAgostino
(Wantagh, N.J./High Pointe Regional) and ripped a
shot from 15 yards out.
SU (0-1) was held to just one shot
in the contest, that by junior Jessica Padgett (Cincinnati,
Ohio/Ross) midway through the second half. DAgostino
made six saves in her first collegiate start.
