ASHLAND, Va. (September 28,
2000) - The SU men's soccer team snapped its two
game losing streak Wednesday afternoon as the
Hornets tied Randolph Macon 1-1 in non-conference
action. Shenandoah (2-4-1) had lost both of its
outings since defeating then No. 9 in the nation
Gettysburg College 1-0 on September 10.
Against the host Yellow
Jackets, Coach Rob Kulton's club scored the first
goal of the game in the 24th minute
when sophomore Will Scott (Chesapeake, Va./Great
Bridge) converted a pass from senior Tommy Page (Annandale,
Va./Annandale). After Mike Finneran scored for
Randolph Macon 15 minutes later, the two teams
were unable to find the back of the net again
throughout the rest of regulation and in the 30
minute overtime period.
Sophomore Tom Malinosky (Clearwater,
Fla./Clearwater Catholic) had nine saves in the
120 minute contest for SU, while Mike Matson had
eight for RMC (5-3-1).
Shenandoah hosts Greensboro
in the Hornets' Dixie Conference opener on Sunday.
Game time is 1:00.
