Women’s Soccer

NEWPORT NEWS , Va. – The women’s soccer team was shut out again Friday night; Christopher Newport held SU without a shot in a 4-0 victory.

CNU ( 5-6-2 , 4-1-1 ) got the only goal it would need in the 30th minute and then added tallies in the 45th, 79th and 81st  minutes to provide the final margin of victory.

Goalkeeper Dana D’Agostino (Wantage, N.J./High Pointe Regional) had 11 saves.

Coach Brandon Padgett’s club is now off until Friday when they host Averett University in the squad’s final home game of the year. Game time is 3:00 .

 


Women’s Volleyball

FERRUM, Va. – The volleyball team did not have any more success than women’s soccer; SU fell 3-0 (21-30, 21-30, 27-30) to Ferrum College Friday evening.

Freshman Jenny Gray ( Sumerduck , Va. / Liberty ) led SU (3-14, 1-7) with 10 kills and nine digs in the match with senior Misty Towery ( Martinsville , Va. /Prince Edward) adding 10 digs.

Senior Brandy Kuykendall ( Winchester , Va. /James Wood) had 29 assists.

Ferrum (9-11, 4-5) received 11 kills from Amy Robertson and 10 from Sandy Robertson to secure the victory. The win also gives the Lady Panthers the sweep in the season series.

The women are now off until Wednesday when they host Averett University in a Dixie Conference matchup.
