Soccer Wins Again

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The men’s
soccer team kept itself in contention for a Dixie Conference regular
season title Saturday afternoon by defeating Methodist College 2-0.
SU, now winners of three straight, will do no worse than a tie for
the regular season championship if it wins its final two Dixie
Conference contests.
Shenandoah (6-4-2, 4-1) got its
first goal of the game in the waning moments of the first half as
junior Akmed Mansaray (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) netted a feed
from freshman Mihailo Prelavic (Podgorica, Montenegro/Olympic
Heights) in the 43rd minute.
Freshman David Schmitt (Brandon,
Fla./Bloomingdale)
clinched the contest when he directed a Manuel Barcia (Fairfax, Va./Oakton)
cross in the 62nd minute.
Senior keeper
Tom Malinosky (Clearwater,
Fla./Clearwater
Catholic) had eight saves in registering his second consecutive
shutout and third overall this season.

when they travel to Dixie Conference opponent N.C. Wesleyan for a

Cross Country
HARRISONBURG
,
Va.
– Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams turned in
quality finishes at the Virginia State Meet hosted by
Bridgewater
College
Saturday morning.
Freshman Greg Zeigler (Forty Fort,
Pa./Wyoming Seminary) continued his leadership on the men’s team;
he turned in a 32:56 (49th place) finish to lead his
squad. Sophomore Erin
West paced the women with a personal best 29:00 (44th) in
the 6K.

Park

Greensboro, N.C.
for the Dixie Conference Meet. The
