HARRISONBURG
,
Va.
– The Shenandoah University women’s basketball team was unable to
gain a split of the season series with Eastern Mennonite Friday
evening; host EMU took a 57-54 victory.
This
is the second time this season that the Lady Royals (4-4) have
defeated the Hornets by three points. EMU was a 90-87 overtime winner
in Winchester
on November 19.
As
was the case in Wednesday’s victory over Hood, Shenandoah (2-4) was
plagued by poor shooting from the field. The Hornets were just 6 for
27 (22.2 percent) from the field in the first 20 minutes of play,
allowing the hosts to take a 25-17 lead into the halftime lockerroom.
SU
turned it on in the second half and eventually took its only lead of
the game at the
4:01
mark when Adina Trammel (Leesburg,
Va./Loudoun
County) hit a pair of free throws to give the Hornets a 47-46
advantage.
Unfortunately,
the Lady Royals closed with an 11-7 run to provide the final margin of
victory. Shenandoah had one last chance to tie, but freshman Jenny
Gray’s (Sumerduck, Va./Liberty)
last second three could not find the basket.
Trammel
led the Hornets with 15 points and 17 rebounds, while sophomore
Bridget Robbins (Baker, W. Va./East Hardy) added a career high 12
points.

they will play in the
Elizabethtown
(
Pa.
)
Classic.
