MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The
men's basketball team saw its winning streak is
snapped at three as Alvernia blows out the
Hornets 91-57 in the first round of the Chowan
Shootout. The Crusaders shoot a lights out 62.5
percent from the field in the contest, including
70.4 percent in the second half. Ted Davis leads
SU with 14 points while Michael Atkins adds 13
and Ronald Merriwether 12.
WINCHESTER, Va. - The women
did not fare much better Friday night, as they
run into a buzzsaw in the form of Eastern
Mennonite's Emily Mullet and lose 85-67 to the
Royals. SU had a 40-37 lead going into the
intermission, but saw Mullet score 29 of her
career high 42 points in the second half as EMU
outscores the Hornets 48-27 in the final 20
minutes of play. Carrie Weimer leads the hosts
with a career high 21.
