JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Shenandoah University men's basketball team completed its first semester play Monday evening with a 110-60 loss at Division I East Tennessee State University.

The loss is the second this season for Shenandoah (4-4) to a Division I opponent. The school is now 0-18 in DI games dating back to the 1988-89 season.

The Hornets struggled against the Bucs (6-3), who jumped out to a 59-25 lead at the half by shooting a sizzling 24 for 37 (64.9 percent) from the field. Conversely, SU shot just 9 for 40 (22.5 percent) and committed 14 turnovers in the first 20 minutes.

Senior Ronald Merriwether (Frankfurt, Germany/Giessen American) led Shenandoah with 12 points while Michael Atkins (Winchester, Va./Sherando) added nine.

Merriwether also had a team high 12 rebounds.
