JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Shenandoah
University men's basketball team completed its first semester
play Monday evening with a 110-60 loss at Division I East
Tennessee State University.
The loss is the second this season for
Shenandoah (4-4) to a Division I opponent. The school is now
0-18 in DI games dating back to the 1988-89 season.
The Hornets struggled against the Bucs
(6-3), who jumped out to a 59-25 lead at the half by shooting a
sizzling 24 for 37 (64.9 percent) from the field. Conversely, SU
shot just 9 for 40 (22.5 percent) and committed 14 turnovers in
the first 20 minutes.
Senior Ronald Merriwether (Frankfurt,
Germany/Giessen American) led Shenandoah with 12 points while
Michael Atkins (Winchester, Va./Sherando) added nine.
Merriwether also had a team high 12
rebounds.

Shenandoah is now off until the first week
in January when the Hornets travel to the Philadelphia area to
play Elizabethtown and Cabrini colleges. SU will be at
Elizabethtown on January 2 and then play at Cabrini one day
later.
