Men’s Basketball

Head Coach: Rob Harris

Overall Record: 5-5 Dixie Conference Record: 0-0

The men's basketball team finished up its first semester schedule this past week with three losses in three games. On Saturday, December 16, SU fell to St. Mary's of Maryland 95-79 despite 17 points apiece from Seniors Ted Davis (Clifton Forge, Va./Allegheny) and Jeff Miller (Millersville, Md./Anne Arundel CC). The men then traveled to Las Vegas, Nev. to compete in the D3 Desert Shootout. In Tuesday's opener, SU led No. 22 in the nation Hanover (Ind.) College at the break and for much of the second half but could not hold on as HC took the 67-60 win. Junior Ronald Merriwether (Frankfurt, Germany) had 15 and classmate Craig Shelton (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) 10 to lead the Hornets in the scoring column. Coach Rob Harris' club then completed its first semester schedule with an 84-65 loss to Williams College in Wednesday's consolation game. Davis led SU with 22 points, while Merriwether added 13 and Miller 12. The men are now off for semester break until Saturday, January 6, 2001 when they host Cabrini College at 7:00 in Shingleton Gymnasium.

Women’s Basketball

Overall Record: 3-4 Dixie Conference Record: 0-0

The women's basketball team also lost its final game of the semester, losing last Saturday 83-74 to Carthage (Wisc.). Junior Wendy Legge (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) led the Hornets in the contest with 23 points, while sophomore Adina Trammel (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) turned in her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds. The women are now off for the semester break and do not play again until January 6, 2001, when they travel to Mary Baldwin College.
