Miranda Armstrong

Head Women's Soccer Coach

Miranda Armstrong, a native of Washington state, is preparing for her fifth season as the head coach of the SU women's soccer team.

Armstrong led the Hornets to a best in eight years 10-8-1 record in 2005 and the team also hosted a first-round game in the USA South Conference Tournament for the first time ever.

Armstrong came to Shenandoah after serving as the assistant women’s soccer and track coach at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa in 2002-03. In her one year at UIU, the Peacocks matched their win total from the previous season despite having just two seniors on their 13-woman roster.

Prior to her experience at Upper Iowa, Armstrong helped started the women's soccer program at Seattle Community College. After serving as the assistant in 1999 and 2000, she headed up the program in 2001.

Armstrong also has professional playing experience. In 1998, Armstrong helped found the Hibernian and Caledonian Saints women's team and played for that side until 2001. In 2002, Armstrong completed her professional playing career with the Seattle Sounders in the United Soccer League.

A 1998 graduate of Seattle University, she set a school record for assists in a half and was the 1997 Inspirational Award winner while also playing one season of basketball at the Division II school

Armstrong holds a national C license with the US Soccer Federation and both a goalkeeper and regional licenses through the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. In 2005, Armstrong completed her M.B.A. requirements from Upper Iowa University.
