STUDENT ATHLETES SELECTED TO OMICRON DELTA KAPPA

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Monday, Dec. 31, that 11 of its student-athletes have been selected for induction into the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society.
Sydney Anderson, Kelcy Brown, Katie Cataldo, Emily Hesse and Stormie Malik represent the senior class, with Jon Bannan, Dorothy Earner, Jake Heeren, Josh Hynson, Heather Sink and Missy Volonino representing the junior class. Cataldo (Occupational Therapy), Hesse (Pharmacy) and Sink (Pharmacy) are all in their first year of graduate work. These 11 student-athletes represent eight different sports: women’s lacrosse, volleyball, women’s cross country, women’s indoor track & field, women’s outdoor track & field, women’s soccer, men’s soccer and football. The 11 have earned a total of 10 All-league or All-Tournament honors during their careers, with Earner being named as the 2011 USA South Rookie of the Year for cross country.The group has an average GPA of 3.55 on a 4.0 scale with three members at least a 3.85.

Eighty-three students have been inducted into Shenandoah’s ODK chapter in the past five years. Thirty-three Shenandoah ODK members are student-athletes. The 11 student-athletes selected this year are part of a class of 25 Shenandoah students selected. The induction ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 24, in Goodson Chapel.
