The Final Round of Shenandoah Conservatory’s 2013 Student Soloists Competition (SSC) will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, in Armstrong Concert Hall. The event is FREE and open to the public. Up to 12 finalists representing the instrumental, voice and piano divisions will compete for the opportunity to perform with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, March 23 at 8 p.m. in Armstrong Concert Hall. Two first prizes (one in the undergraduate category and one in the graduate category), one second prize and one third prize will be awarded at the conclusion of the performances by the competitors. An all-external guest jury has been invited to adjudicate the Final Round. David Salness, University of Maryland School of Music, Patricia Miller, George Mason University and Michael Adcock, Washington Conservatory of Music, will be the jurors for the 2013 SSC. This year’s SSC received over 50 applications by students from across all conservatory divisions.
