Shanon Castle joined the Garth Fagan Dance Company in October 2009 and was promoted to senior level dancer in April of 2012. While performing with Garth Fagan Dance she toured across the United States, including several seasons at the Joyce Theater in New York City and at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). While dancing at BAM, she performed in Lighthouse/Lightning Rod, a collaboration between Garth Fagan. Wynton Marsalis Septet and to music sung live by opera singer Jesse Norman. Additionally, Castle has appeared in numerous publications, including Dance Magazine. The New York Times and the Village Voice. She was featured in the 2012 WXXI documentary, Garth and Wynton: The Project. As a senior dancer with the company, Shanon has demonstrated movement for rehearsal director Norwood Pennewell’s new choreography, and for the Garth Fagan Dance School’s public classes, as well as for master classes given around the country, the Summer Movement Institute. Shanon graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory in May 2008 with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. While at Shenandoah she was featured in numerous works created by faculty and guests artists, including the restaging of Bach Suite.
