Director of Chamber Music and Professor of Viola and Chamber Music Doris Lederer is the 2015 recipient of the Outstanding String Teacher Award given by the Virginia String Teachers Association (VASTA).
“To be honest, I was pretty shocked when I found out that I was selected for this award, because there are so many fantastic string teachers in our state,” said Lederer. “I feel incredibly honored and thrilled to represent Shenandoah Conservatory in accepting this award.”
The Outstanding String Teacher Award is designed to recognize string teachers with six or more years of teaching experience who have advanced the cause and level of string playing and teaching in the state of Virginia.
Lederer was presented with the award by Coordinator of Strings, Professor of Bass and VASTA president Donovan Stokes, D.M., on Dec. 9.
