ACTIVE MINDS AT SHENANDOAH UNIVERSITY

Did you you know that one in four individuals live with a diagnosable mental illness? Unfortunately, mental illness remains a taboo topic in our society, plagued by misinformation and stereotypes. Such stigmas contribute to the fact that 60 percent of those suffering from mental illness never seek treatment.

Active Minds is a national organization dedicated to changing the conversation about mental health by dispelling stigmas, spreading awareness and encouraging help-seeking. The Active Minds group at Shenandoah plans campus-wide events such as guest speakers and seminars, dedicated to educating the public and, in turn, reach out to those in need. Contact student Rhianna Nissen at rnissen09@su.edu for information.
