Want to make a difference this holiday season? There are currently three food drives in progress at Sheandoah University, so be sure to get involved!
The Cans Across Campus Food Drive is sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), the Health & Life Sciences Club and the Office of Spiritual Life. Donation boxes are located in Aikens Athletic Center, Goodson Chapel/Recital Hall and Armstrong, Gregory, Henkel and Howe halls. Canned goods and other non-perishable items are accepted now through Wednesday, Nov. 14.
All food will be given to the athletic department’s flagship radio station, The River 95.3 FM, toward their “Camping for Hunger” food drive. All food collected through that initiative will be donated to the Salvation Army of the Northern Shenandoah Valley. Questions? Contact [email protected] or email students Dorothy Earner ([email protected]) or Joey Bikkers ([email protected]).
The Northern Virginia Campus Food Drive, held now through Friday, Nov. 16, benefits the Loudoun Interfaith Relief, a food pantry that serves residents of Loudoun County. The food pantry is especially in need of: stuffing, potatoes, canned vegetables and gravy and cranberry sauce. It also needs: cereal, 100 percent juice, canned fruit, canned meats (tuna or chicken), mac and cheese, Chef Boyardee products and hearty soups. Questions? Contact Northern Virginia Campus Coordinator Ashley Wisniewski at 571/223-0367 or [email protected].
Finally, Sodexo’s Annual Food Drive, which benefits the Lord Fairfax Area Food Bank in Winchester, will continue now through Friday, Nov. 16. Drop off non-perishable food items in the marked boxes in the Allen Dining Hall or drop your spare change into the designated collection jar. Contact Allen Dining Hall at 540/665-4924 or [email protected].
