LEARN MORE ABOUT ISLAM ON OCT. 24 IN THE BSC

The Muslim Student Association, Student Life’s Intercultural Programs, the College of Arts & Sciences and the Alson H. Smith, Jr. Library invite university community members and the community-at-large to attend a program on Islam by the International Institute for Islamic Thought on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center (BSC).

The program will include an information booth featuring an Arabic calligrapher and book exhibit in the main lobby. Dr. Daoud Nassimi, who will teach “Introduction to Islam” during the spring 2014 semester, will introduce a documentary “The Rise and Fall of Islamic Spain,” which will be shown from 2 to 4 p.m. in the BSC, Room 118. Nassimi will also be available to answer questions about his class. This program is offered in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) “Muslim Journeys” program.
