YODER ANNOUNCES FOOTBALL’S 2013 SCHEDULE

Head Football Coach Scott Yoder, who was hired in early January, announced his program’s 2013 schedule to include five home games this coming fall. Shenandoah opens the season on Sept. 7 with a 7 p.m. home game against Gallaudet University before taking on former USA South rivals Ferrum College and Christopher Newport University on the next two weekends, respectively. The Gallaudet matchup will be the first between the two teams since the 2001 season. Shenandoah had its first-ever win as a four-year program over the Bisons in 2000 and then christened Shentel Stadium (now called Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium) with a 37-6 win on Sept. 15, 2001.

The bye week follows the CNU contest with the Hornets opening their 2013 ODAC slate on Sept. 5 against Bridgewater College. The game is tentatively scheduled for a 7 p.m. start. Yoder’s club takes its first ODAC road trip on Oct. 12 to Guilford College before hosting Catholic University on Oct. 19 in a 1 p.m. homecoming contest.

Away games at Hampden-Sydney College and Randolph-Macon College sandwich the transition from October to November and complete the road portion of the schedule. Shenandoah completes its 2013 slate with 1 p.m. home games against Emory and Henry College on Nov. 9 and Washington and Lee University on Nov.16. The Washington & Lee game will likely be the opening game in a football/men’s basketball doubleheader at Shenandoah.

“I am looking forward to leading the team into this schedule,” said Yoder. “I know that the ODAC is one of the toughest leagues in the country, and I am sure that our non-conference slate will prepare for those seven games. We are going to play hard-nosed football all season long and I can’t wait to get started.”
