Bill Paying And Collection Procedures

Issued by: Business Affairs Council

Approved by: President's Executive Council

Effective date: February l8, l987

No student may attend on campus classes and/or live on campus until his/her bill is paid in full or satisfactory arrangements have been made with the Manager of Student Accounts. No student may attend off-campus classes beyond the second class period unless his/her bill is paid in full or satisfactory arrangements have been made with the Manager of Student Accounts.

Payment of accounts owed the University should not wait until statements (bills) are issued. Statements reflecting charges are issued at the end of the month in which pre-registration and/or registration occurs. Scholarships, grants and other financial aid credits will not be reflected on the statements until the end of the month in which they are approved. Regardless of when statements are issued, it is the student's responsibility to remain current in the payment of charges.

The privilege of attending classes and registering for the next semester may be denied because of failure to pay account balances by the end of the current semester. Transcripts and grades will be withheld for students with outstanding account balances. Past due accounts will be turned over to a debt collection firm or an attorney for collection. The University will add to an outstanding account a service charge and reserves the right to assess any collection or court costs subsequently incurred during collection. (See delinquent students accounts and bad debt write-off policy).
