Delinquent Accounts and Bad Debt Write-Off Procedure

Effective date: February 18, 1987

Delinquent student accounts are to be handled as follows:

1) A notice will be sent to the delinquent student

2) A "hold" will be placed on the delinquent student's grades, credits and transcripts

3) The delinquent student will be barred from registering for a subsequent term

4) Service charges will be charged on all delinquent student accounts

5) Delinquent student account balances will be referred routinely to an appropriate agency
or attorney for collection

Bad debts, as determined by the Vice President for Business Affairs, will be handled as follows:

1) Under $1,000.00 - the Vice President for Business Affairs has the authority to write off any
debt under $1,000.00

2) Over $1,000.00 - the write off of bad debts of $1,000.00 or more must be appoved by the President.

The Vice President for Business Affairs will maintain sufficient records for an audit of bad debts.

An annual report will be made to the governing board, showing a detail of all write offs made during the fiscal year, regardless of the amount.
