Our mission is to provide reasonable and appropriate accommodations and support services that will assist students in achieving their academic and professional goals. Disability Services collaborates with students, faculty and staff to create an educational environment that is equitable and inclusive for all members of the university community.
As part of Shenandoah University’s commitment to upholding the letter and spirit of the laws that ensure equal treatment of people with disabilities, the university recognizes and adheres to the mandates of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. It is the policy of Shenandoah University that no otherwise qualified individual is denied reasonable and appropriate access to or participation in any program or activity of the university because of a disability. Pursuant to this policy, the university’s Disabilities Services Office (located in the Academic Success Center) is a resource for students, faculty and staff. Individuals who have a documented disability should request assistance from the director. Faculty and staff charged with assisting those with disabilities may utilize the services of the director as a source of expertise and assistance.
