Winter Break Service Learning Trip/January 10-15, 2016
Staff and Students will travel to Washington, D.C. to work with the Steinbruck Center to engage and better understand poverty, homelessness and economic justice. This trip offers students an opportunity to gain experience creating relationships in diverse settings and empowers them to become global citizens. Applications can be found here. Conservatory Spiritual Life Service Learning Trip to Guatemala/ March 5-12, 2016
The Conservatory and Office of Spiritual Life are partnering to offer this opportunity in spring break 2016. This trip is not just about to building structures in impoverished neighborhoods using hammers and nails, but to build bridges through music, theatre and dance. Students will engage their creative talents through global outreach. This is an opportunity to become global citizens through artistic and cultural exchange. Applications can be found here. Medical Mission Trip to Nicaragua / May 2016
During its annual trip to Leon, Nicaragua, the Shenandoah University Medical Mission Team will aid the impoverished families living in the spectacular mountain setting of Leon and Matagalpa. Graduate students in physician assistant studies and pharmacy serve in one of three rural clinics run by El Ayudante, a Christian mission organization. They gain clinical experience by providing medical care for people who would otherwise have none. They also make friends and learn about the root causes of poverty.
