Shenandoah University Conservatory reaches out to the community by offering various special programs throughout the year and during the summer.

An extension of Shenandoah Conservatory at Shenandoah University, Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy (SCAA) is a non-profit organization offering instruction in music, dance, art, fencing and theatre to students of all ages. Students may choose to receive instruction through group classes or private lessons. Our professionally trained faculty of musicians, dancers, artists and educators, including Shenandoah Conservatory faculty, bring a world of performing and teaching experience to each student.

Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre was founded by its Producing Artistic Director, Harold Herman, who wanted to provide affordable family entertainment in the community of Winchester/Frederick County and to give musical theatre students of Shenandoah Conservatory who were ready for work in a professional setting the opportunity to do so before venturing out to pursue their own careers. It is with great pride and satisfaction that the company is able to boast the success in maintaining affordable ticket prices and encouraging careers in the field of theatre for many over the years, a number of whom have gone on to enjoy work in professional regional theatres and on the stages of Broadway.

SSMT produces four Broadway musicals each summer in the beautiful 630-seat Ohrstrom-Bryant Theatre on the campus of Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. Thirteen performances are given of each musical over a two-week period drawing audiences from a 150-mile radius with groups traveling in from as far away as Ohio and North Carolina.
