As some have written (Daniel Pink, Richard Florida and others), the careers of the future are for those that can bring innovative and creative powers to create value in the marketplace. Artists and arts organizations have long been contributing in this way and are poised to seize the opportunity. Arts managers and administrators bring a special awareness to the opportunity and the capacity to realize its full potential.
Arts management and administration programs at Shenandoah University prepare individuals to be effective contributors and leaders to organizations focusing on creative endeavors. The programs include degrees at the bachelor's and master's levels as well as a minor option for undergraduate students.
Undergraduate students completing degrees outside of the arts management program at Shenandoah University are encouraged to consider the arts management minor as an option to enhance their studies. This is particularly encouraging for students majoring in one of the performance areas of the arts or business majors who are considering a career within the creative industry. The minor consists of completing a series of specialized arts management courses.
