The Master of Music in Pedagogy provides advanced study for those who seek careers as teachers of applied music in any area. The graduate program addresses management and technological issues as well as repertoire and technique considerations. Graduate students in the pedagogy program frequently also serve as teachers in the Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy. The Doctor of Musical Arts in Pedagogy with vocal concentration prepares students for professional careers in higher education as researchers and teachers. Students gain advanced knowledge through an interdisciplinary approach in areas of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology, technology, psychology, and applied voice. Classical and nonclassical vocal techniques are incorporated in the curriculum. Competencies feature a broad knowledge of vocal repertoire, music history and music theory.
