Audition Information for Singers:

Auditions for the Shenandoah Singers are held in the beginning of the fall semester. Students start the audition process by attending the general Shenandoah Conservatory choral placement audition (the audition for all conservatory choral ensembles). During that audition, students are asked to sing scales and vocal exercises. Students may be invited to a Shenandoah Singers Vocal Audition later that day.

During the Shenandoah Singers Vocal Auditions, students sing eight measures of a prepared excerpt. Specific repertoire will be distributed during the conservatory choral placement audition. An accompanist is provided. Students may be invited to a vocal call back audition. Results of the auditions are posted following the call back auditions. It is expected that students will be in the Shenandoah Singers for an entire academic year (fall and spring semesters).

Performances: In addition to regular on-campus performances, Shenandoah Singers represents the conservatory in performance tours and other off-campus settings. Previous performances included tours to Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Ouro Preto and Sao Paulo); Massachusetts (Boston, Martha's Vineyard, Taunton and Middleboro); Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, Landsdale and Bensalem); New Jersey (Toms River); Japan (Okayama, Kurashiki and Tokushima); and Hawaii (Honolulu). The Shenandoah Singers have also performed extensively in Virginia including performances at the Virginia Music Educator's Association (VMEA) conference, and at numerous choral festivals and Virginia schools.
