Committed
to guiding student understanding of self and the world through
development of personal creativity and aesthetic awareness, the
mission of The Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy is to provide
quality arts education in music, theatre, dance and the visual
arts for all persons in the community.
An extension of the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music of Shenandoah
University, the SCAA is a non-profit organization offering non-credit
instruction in all areas of the arts - music, art, theatre and
dance - to students of all ages. Believing that all forms of the
arts increases a person's ability to utilize language, to think
critically and creatively, to become problem solvers by developing
reasoning skills, to become better listeners, and to become contributing
citizens of the world, the SCAA strives to provide a creative
combination of educational opportunities. Instruction is offered
through classes and/or private lessons, and at sequential levels
designed to meet the needs of the serious and the casual student,
the gifted and the average student, the advanced and the beginning
student. The SCAA also provides opportunities for creative expression
through student concerts, recitals, exhibits, and productions,
set in a variety of venues in the community, in SCAA and university
facilities, and beyond the local vicinity.
The
Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy is committed to open enrollment
of community students of all races, ages, religions, and economic
backgrounds. In fulfilling this commitment, the SCAA provides
financial assistance to students demonstrating need and/or exceptional
talent. Further, the SCAA offers instruction through partnerships
with regional public school systems and community based after-school
programs.
The
Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy affirms its commitment to
guiding our students to a broader understanding of oneself and
the world by encouraging the development of personal creativity
and aesthetic awareness through the arts.
