Bachelor of Arts in Dance

Dance Home

The Bachelor of Arts in Dance is designed for dancers who are interested in a broad general education while continuing their dance studies, and provides a solid foundation for launching a career in dance history, therapy, kinesiology or library science.

Performance skills are developed in workshop or ensemble courses, and students in this program have the opportunity to participate in performances by the Shenandoah Dance Ensemble, either on stage or behind the scenes.

The liberal arts component of this degree explores the fields of music, art, theatre and literature. One third of the general studies hours are electives, giving the student great flexibility in tailoring this degree program to meet individual goals and interests. The degree culminates in an independent research project designed by the student in consultation with faculty advisors.
