  The Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Pedagogy is for the talented vocalist interested in a career in teaching voice at the collegiate level. While the highest level of vocal performance is required of candidates of this degree more time is given in the curriculum to perfecting classroom skills. Those interested in a performance degree designed for the operatic singer should choose the Opera Concentration

º Language Requirements: Minimum four semester total. One Semester each of Italian, French, German. One Additional semester of French or German.

Applied Music Minimums:
Applied Voice ÷ 20 credits, eight- semester duration; APVO 123-224 plus APVO 321 through 422
Applied Piano Minor ÷ six credits, six-semester duration, consisting of APPN 111-112 (2 cr.), APPN, APJP, APHC or APOG (2 cr.), APAC 111-112 (2 cr.)  
Applied Vocal Coaching - 4 credits, four- semester duration, APCH 111-212.

Ensemble Requirements: Sixteen total credits, twelve credits of large ensemble earned in six different semesters, with ensemble participation every semester of full-time enrollment are required. Four additional credits selected from either large or small ensembles are required.

Required Competencies: In addition to completion of the credits stated above, each student must demonstrate competencies in computer literacy and oral communication by successfully passing a proficiency examination or an equivalent course:

1. Computer Literacy
     a. SUEX 101 - Computer Literacy, Level I, 0 credits, OR
     b. ISCT 106-Personal Computer Applications, 3 credits
     c. MUPP 259 Introduction to Educational Technology in Music, 2 credits
     d. STSK 102 Information Literacy, 1 credit

2. Oral Communication
     a. SUEX 104 - Oral Communication, 0 credits, OR
     b. MCOM 150 - Principles of Public Speaking, 3 credits
