Guitar Concerts at Shenandoah Conservatory
Sept.
6- Performing his first concert at Shenandoah, Joseph
Pevorero will present a concert of all Italian music. Joseph has won
competitions and awards and is on the faculty at the North Carolina School of
the Arts. His latest CD, Sonatas Rom‡nt’cas,
features music by Ponce, Gluliani and Moreno-Torroba.
Oct. 11- Duo
Cappricioso returns from Germany for another wonderful concert of music for
mandolin and guitar. Michael and Gertrude Troester are each spectacular soloists
on their own and their performances together are truly not to be missed. They
will present both solos and duets.
Nov.
1 - Joseph Mayes will be performing his annual concert. Will he be
playing guitars, lutes, vihuellas it's always a mystery! No matter, he is
certain to supply an evening of delightful music and quips.
Nov.
13 - The Shenandoah University Guitar Ensemble will present its Fall 2000
concert. Hearing a group of guitars playing together is always an interesting
and enjoyable experience. You might even hear the first Christmas music of the
season.
Nov.
18 - The semester finale will feature the Paco de Malaga Flamenco Music and
Dance Troupe. This promises to be a spectacular and exciting event both
musically and visually! This concert will be a fund- raiser for the Winchester
Free Medical Clinic and there will be an admission fee for the public, but not
for Shenandoah students, faculty and staff. It will be held in the
Ohrstrom-Bryant Theater.
Preview
of Spring Concerts - Lorenzo Michell, 1999 winner of the Guitar Foundation
of America International Competition, will be performing on March 1, 2001.
All
concerts (with the exception of the November 18 concert) are free and are in
Goodson Chapel, beginning at 8:00 PM.
