Course Offerings 

  Shenandoah offers a number of specialized courses designed to help classical guitarists perfect their art in the classroom and in performance. 

MUEN 240  Guitar Ensemble 
An ensemble of varying size that performs music for multiple guitars. Membership is by audition. One credit each semester.
 
MUEN 390 Guitar Consort
Performance of repertoire expressly composed or arranged for guitar duo, trio, or quartet. Enrollment is limited and each student will be expected to assume total responsibility for one part. One-half credit per semester.
MULT 405/406 Guitar Literature
Historical and analytical survey of guitar literature from the Renaissance through the Twentieth Century. Two credits.
 
MUPP 403 Guitar Pedagogy
Survey of teaching methods and materials for private instruction. Two credits.
   
MUPP 215 Survey of Materials for Group Pedagogy
A survey of materials used for group instruction on the applied instrument. One credit.
 
MUPP 330 Group Pedagogy
Practical application of group dynamics to the art of applied instrument teaching. Method of instruction is one hour each week with all pedagogy majors for general discussion of group teaching principles and one hour each week with the major pedagogy professor to discuss appropriate materials. Must be taken concurrently with MUPP 215. One credit.
    
MUPP 345 Melodic and Harmonic Concepts for the Guitar
Development of functional theoretical concepts on the guitar. One credit.
 
MUPP 429 Supervised Group Teaching
 
MUPP 430 Supervised Private Teaching
  
MUPP 440 Full Recital 
Presentation of full solo classical recital. Sixty minutes of music. Two credits.
 
MUPP 341 Half Recital
Presentation of a half solo classical recital. Twenty-five minutes of music. One credit.
 
MUPP 342/442 Jazz Half and Full Recital
