Performance Opportunities

Weekly studio classes Classical guitar majors in all curricula meet weekly to perform, listen to recordings, view video tapes or films, and discuss guitar-related matters. Performance in studio class is a special opportunity to gain experience before an audience.

Formal studio classes Once each semester all classical guitar majors participate in an evening recital of upper level students.

Guitar Ensemble and Consort concerts Once each semester the Guitar Ensemble and advanced Guitar Consort present a joint concert to the public.

Student recitals Students in the performance and pedagogy curricula present half and/or full recitals as part of their degree requirements. Students in other curricula may also elect to give recitals to fulfill the requirements for a performance certificate or for their own advancement.

Faculty recitals Shenandoah supports a very active performing faculty that presents many concerts both on and off campus.

Guest guitarist recitals Shenandoah often hosts visiting guitarists from other areas and institutions.

Harpists and classical guitarists often perform in duos and trios with singers and other instrumentalists.
