Symphonic Wind Ensemble
Emily
Threinen, director
The
Symphonic Wind Ensemble at Shenandoah Conservatory has been in existence
since 1970. Identified in previous decades as a concert band, the
ensemble has a long history
under the direction of several distinguished conductors. The Symphonic
Wind Ensemble is open to all music majors by audition. Students
are exposed to a diverse repertoire from transcriptions to the works
of contemporary composers. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs
in both fall and spring semesters.
The
Shenandoah Symphonic Wind Ensemble is assisted by Kappa Kappa
Psi, an honorary fraternity open to men and women enrolled in
band and wind ensembles.
The ensemble has performed at the Virginia Music Educators Association
Conference several times and has been on several tours including
Charlottesville, VA, New York City, New Jersey, Virginia Beach,
Williams, VA, Georgia and Florida.
