Symphony Orchestra

Jan Wagner, music director and conductor

The Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, which performs a diverse range of symphonic repertoire, is dedicated to providing students with opportunities to stimulate professional and artistic growth. Orchestra programs include both standard and contemporary symphonic literature.

The ensemble typically performs six times each year, including a full opera production and a program featuring winners of the student soloist competition.

Significant performing venues have included St. Matthews Cathedral and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC.  In the fall of 2000, the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra was selected as the only collegiate orchestra to perform at the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference in Hot Springs, Virginia.

The Symphony Orchestra is open to all music and non-music majors by audition.
